[ Never has Yuta seen Rika—neither original nor the vessel she left behind now acting as his protector in her stead—greet or even treat anyone with such overjoyed glee. Even with himself, she's more careful and referential than she is with this stranger that she just lifts like a delighted child might a beloved toy. It leaves Yuta stunned into stillness and silence. It's not just that, the way the young man (Mumei) greets her in turn is done with such easy warmth and familiarity. There's affection to his words and the touch he bestows upon her; both which leave her preening under the attention.
No one aside from Yuta himself has ever treated her like that either.
And yet Yuta has no idea who this person is. Can only stand there and watch the interaction with wide, disbelieving eyes as he tries to rack his brain for some kind of logical explanation. There's no way Rika can know him when she's always been by his side. The brief moment apart in which he had her guard the civilians in the stadium is not long enough for this kind of closeness, especially knowing how she is given that Yuta is her singular obsessive focus. She does not particularly care for others unless he makes it her business to care. Yet here she is, ecstatic about a stranger's presence. Yuta draws a terrifying blank as to why. There's no explanation he can arrive to that helps to make this situation make sense. ]
