It's like his heart takes a leap only to proceed to fall down a set of proverbial stairs, hitting each step along the way. From elation to guilt and shame for what he did during their latest mission and then confusion at the text itself; it's a dizzying journey. (He's not even sure how to feel at the hesitance, the switch from the careful 'omae-san' at the start of the text back to the more familiar 'omae' at the end.) It's a good thing he's not in the middle of doing anything important nor is he around anyone to witness him go very still and frown at seemingly nothing, worrying at his bottom lip with his teeth.
